MSK Triage Service
What is MSK Triage?
The Pan Dorset Musculoskeletal Triage Service is a Triage Service for people experiencing musculoskeletal (MSK) problems. This may include problems with joints, muscles, and other soft tissues, i.e., ligaments and nerves. It is run by highly trained physiotherapists known as Musculoskeletal Practitioners.
What happens when a refferal is recieved?
It will be reviewed by a Musculoskeletal Practitioner. Based on the information provided, they will recommend a service to best meet your needs.
Following this, you will receive a letter offering the details of how to book an appointment. You will be offered a choice of locations for one of the service types below:
- Dorset Musculoskeletal Service
- Orthopaedic/Rheumatology or Spinal Consultant service
Alternatively, the service will refer you back to your GP with advice which may include a referral to another service – your GP practice will contact you.
It may be necessary to book you directly into a clinic rather than offering you a choice. This will be explained in our correspondence to you.
Please ensure you make your choice of clinic promptly after receiving the letter. If no appointments are available, choose a provider and ‘defer your referral’ to your clinic of choice. Please note that waiting times for treatment will vary across Providers. You may see these waiting times on E-referral as you choose your appointment. If not, you can go to the Provider website and search ‘waiting times’ for further information.
